FREE FROM STRESS: Understand, Observe, Release

Are you often stressed? Do you get overwhelmed by just thinking about your To-Do list? Does it block you or slow you down?

In this 2-part theory & practice workshop series you will learn how to deal with stress. An overview about the biological mechanisms of stress will help you to understand what happens to your body when you are stressed. Extensive and varied practice will help you understand what happens in your mind.

By the end of this workshop you would own a toolbox of different stress-relief techniques that help deal with stress and anxiety. You will gain confidence in your own ability to cope with stressful situations and reducing internal stress. The variety of methods ensures that you will find something that works for you.

The workshop will take place in English, with German translation is possible when needed. The workshop includes a written summary.

Learn your own stress response

In the first day we will cultivate awareness to what happens in our body and mind when we are stressed. A theoretical part will include a scientific discussion about the physiology of stress. In the practical part we will learn and practice distinct methods which help to relax and increase confidence, based on mastering body posture (asana), breath (pranayama) and meditation.

 


Workshop 2

10:00-12:30 hrs
Go deeper, release more


In the second day we will dive more into the practice. After an asana practice intended to release and relax, we will practice in depth some of the stress release techniques. New meditation- based techniques will be introduced. In a shorter theoretical part, we will discuses the relation between stress and the immune system.

 


About
Dr. Ruth Adam (Ruthi) is a neuroscientist and a yoga teacher (500 hours, Yoga Alliance). She holds a master degree in Cognitive Science and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. She was the lead investigator in research projects examining attention and emotion processing in the brain at the Max-Planck-Institute, University of Heidelberg and the University Hospital of Munich (LMU). Ruthi teaches active-yet-grounding vinyasa-flow as well as relaxation and stress-release classes, all with humor and joy. She is committed to using scientific knowledge to better understand the practice of yoga.
